As awards season unfolds, watches are becoming an increasingly significant element of men’s red carpet style, with celebrities making bold and intriguing choices. At last night’s 31st SAG Awards, the trend continued with an array of remarkable timepieces.

Kieran Culkin sported a sleek Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, Jeff Goldblum went for a compact and refined 21 by 34 mm Tiffany & Co. Cocktail watch, and Kumail Nanjiani showcased the complexity of the Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Tourbillon Chronograph Collection Excellence Platine. Meanwhile, Drew Starkey chose the elusive Cartier Privé Tortue, a watch that perfectly complements his understated yet refined style.

With the Oscars just around the corner, this awards season is proving to be an exciting showcase of exceptional watchmaking on the red carpet.

#1. Kumail Nanjiani in Vacheron Constantin

Kumail Nanjiani was undoubtedly one of the evening’s best-dressed men, looking sharp in an impeccably tailored Emporio Armani shawl collar tux that accentuated his silhouette. His choice of timepiece was just as refined. On his wrist, he wore the Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Tourbillon Chronograph Collection Excellence Platine—a masterpiece that seamlessly combines a single-push chronograph movement with a tourbillon, two of the most complex complications in watchmaking. Housed in a 950 platinum case and limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, it was the perfect finishing touch to an already sophisticated look.

#2. Drew Starkey’s Cartier Privé Edition Tortue

At first glance, Drew Starkey, best known for his role in Outer Banks appeared to embrace a classic prep school aesthetic at the SAG Awards. But a closer look revealed a far more refined approach. What seemed like a traditional navy jacket, light blue shirt, red tie, and khakis was actually a carefully curated Valentino ensemble: a double-breasted blazer paired with subtly flared, cuffed cream trousers and a polka-dotted red silk scarf, styled in place of a tie.

His choice of watch was just as thoughtfully considered. Starkey sported a Cartier Tortue, a timepiece renowned for its elegantly curved case—its name, after all, is French for “turtle.” A true classic with a twist, this $31,000 watch is part of Cartier’s ultra-exclusive Privé collection, typically reserved for VIP collectors and unavailable online.

#3. Jeff Goldbllum in a Tiffany & Co. Cocktail Watch

Jeff Goldblum has mastered the art of looking effortlessly cool, blending timeless elegance with just the right touch of individuality. At the SAG Awards, he kept it classic in a tux, adding a hint of personality with a mint green scarf. But it was his choice of timepiece that truly stood out.

As smaller watches continue to gain popularity, celebrities are taking the trend even further, often opting for ultra-compact designs, including those traditionally considered women’s pieces. Goldblum embraced this movement with a striking Tiffany & Co. timepiece, measuring just 21 by 34 mm in 18-karat gold, featuring a bezel adorned with round brilliant diamonds in varying sizes.

#4. Tommy Barstow in an Omega Speedmaster

Tommy Bastow, recently seen as Father Martin Alvito in Shōgun, chose a striking panda dial Omega Speedmaster, elevated with diamond accents around the bezel and subdials. His rugged, masculine style, paired with a velvet tuxedo jacket, was perfectly complemented by the bold yet refined presence of the iconic Speedmaster, proving that even a diamond-set chronograph can maintain its undeniable edge.

#5. Coleman Domingo in an Omega De Ville Prestige

Omega outfits plenty of celebrities during awards season, but it’s always interesting to see how each star selects a watch that complements their personal style. Coleman Domingo, known for both his acting talent and impeccable fashion sense, opted for a 41mm Omega De Ville Prestige.

Featuring a domed silvery dial with a stamped pattern and sun-brushed finish, the timepiece was a seamless addition to his sharp Valentino ensemble. While many might lean toward Omega’s sportier models, Domingo’s choice of a more refined dress watch perfectly reflects his blend of edge and elegance
